WHO ARE WE?

MSMI is one of the world's few hull and machinery mutuals and was founded in 1972 to provide hull and machinery cover to its founder Members, many of whom were entered for Protection and Indemnity insurance with North of England P&I Association.

Both MSMI and North of England are managed by North Insurance Management Limited from our purpose built offices in Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England.

Our total entered fleet comprises of more than 400 hulls ranging from small ferries operating around the UK coast, to large tankers and capesize bulk carriers trading internationally.

MSMI is governed by a Board of shipowner Directors representing the international membership of the Club. North Insurance Management Limited (NIML) has a highly experienced team of over 180 staff many of whom are Master Mariners or insurance claims specialists. However, a core team of approximately 20 NIML staff routinely work with MSMI and its Members.
