Welcome to the Marine Shipping Mutual Insurance Company (MSMI) website. MSMI is one of the few mutual hull and machinery providers in the world. Founded in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1972, MSMI is managed by North Insurance Management Limited (NIML) which also manages the North of England P&I Club from its modern purpose built offices on the Quayside in Newcastle.

MSMI has built its reputation on solid financial foundations. It has a comprehensive reinsurance programme and a highly service orientated claims handling ethos. MSMI currently has approximately 7.9 million GT of entered tonnage, comprising of more than 400 ocean going hulls of many different ship types.
